Introduction (precondition checklist)

  • Internet connection for download ISO Windows image
  • USB flash drive with capacity 8 GB (should be formatted before use — (!) all data will be lost)
  • Laptop / Desktop ready hardware*

ready hardware* — for the best way: new personal computer (PC) without operation system (OS). If you have an old desktop/laptop don’t be upset :).

The main thing is that it was (if you really want to have a workstation):

  • 6 GB of RAM,
  • 2 cores CPU with 1.6 GHz each. (start from Intel Pentium E series)
  • and 30 GB Hard disk space considering the installation of an additional software product

(although Microsoft gives other figures that make it impossible to launch products other than itself) I do not recommend listening to these specifications which are listed on the official site (here).

Important note: in our lives, the main thing is the speed of information and data processing so I strongly recommend using solid-state drives (SSD) for this operating system in the 21st century.

The first step (if you do this from Windows)

  1. Go to: Download Windows 10 page on Microsoft website
  2. Click on “Download tool now” in the Create Windows section

3. Plugin your USB flash drive from precondition which was described above

Note: doesn’t matter is USB 2.0 or USB 3.1, it is should be a flash drive with 8 GB space, and I warn all data on this flash drive will be lost.

4. Run MediaCreationTool.exe

5. Lead with the following instruction:

  • Create installation media (USB flash drive)
  • On step 2 (if you need to select your language) or use recommended options
  • Choose USB flash drive (selected by default)
  • Select a USB flash drive ((!) be careful in this step, select the correct drive)
  • The downloading process was a start

Waiting… a message “Your USB flash drive is ready”

6. Push the Finish button and take a flash drive

Congratulations! Your flash drive ready for install Windows on your PC

The second step (understand how to run the installation)

The problem is how to run the installation. We have a large number of brands in the device market you need to understand how to boot (download) your flash drive.

Need to understand what kind of device (brand) you have, to solve this problem, for example, I have a ThinkPad Laptop, he is manufactured by Lenovo and I need open Quick Boot (Devices) Menu* on it.

Let’s find this information on Google: ThinkPad Quick Boot Device menu. Google (Lenovo support team) help me with that: Press F12 or (Fn+F12) rapidly and repeatedly at the Lenovo logo during bootup.

Most popular manufactory is (key, quick boot menu access):

  • Lenovo (F12)
  • HP (F9)
  • DELL (F12)
  • PC (in general)is F8

Boot Menu* — when a computer is starting up, the user can access the Boot Menu by pressing one of several keyboard keys. Common keys for accessing the Boot Menu are Esc, F2, F10 or F12, depending on the manufacturer of the computer or motherboard.

Okay, let’s back to work! Put your already prepared flash drive in laptop/desktop (he should be off). Press at the same time the power button and boot menu hotkey (we discussed it above). Select your USB flash drive from the menu that appears on the screen, and the “Windows Setup” menu should begin displayed after loading spinner.

Now “Step-by-step”:

  1. Select language window: Click Next
  2. Install now: Click (big button)
  3. If you have a product key enter it or leave it with click “I don’t have a product key”
  4. Select: “Custome: Install Windows only (advanced)”
  5. Warning, this step very important, you need a select your data storage (were Windows should be installed locally). If you have only one physical drive — double tap on it and install will begin. If no, you need to understand what drive now is ready for installing Windows on it. Important note: When the installation begins on drive all data on it will be removed. Becerful with that.

6. Installing Windows step

After, Windows loading on the base user configuration screen for entering and selecting options before the first start.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!
